We had a great meeting this past Saturday at Tony Starlight’s Showroom, despite the light attendance that was likely due in part to the rainy weather and our limited promotion of the meeting. We did record it for those who may have missed it - we will try to get that posted soon!
We had national NORML board member, Madeline Martinez, speak about her grand re-opening of the World Famous Cannabis Cafe. While the original cafe was for OMMP cardholders only, the new location will be open to all adults 21 and over.
The grand re-opening will take place this Friday July 31 at 3pm at 7958 SE Foster Rd. and will include Happy Daddy products, Kush Creams and music by Mack & Dub and the Smoking Section, Gaea and DJ Brain Food. Our fellow Portland NORML board member, Scott Gordon, better known as Urb Thrasher, will also be there representing 420 Radio and broadcasting live.
Madeline also spoke about the importance of being active and fighting for the reform of our marijuana laws. She spoke about various efforts she has worked for over the years, including the increased possession limits in 2005 that allow Oregonians to possess up to 1-1/2 pounds as medical marijuana patients, significantly more than elsewhere. She urged all members to get involved with implementing changes.
Russ Belville gave us a presentation of the current status of marijuana laws here in Oregon. He discussed the impacts of SB 460, HB 3400 and HB 2041, all put together nicely in a presentation that will be made available to the public very soon.
Our next meeting will be held at Tony Starlight’s Showroom on August 22, 2015 at noon. See you then!
