We at Portland NORML are very excited to join the Analog Theater’s Marijuana Mondays, hosting the third Monday of each month with the Portland NORML Social. This will be a monthly opportunity for members and other interested adults to socialize with one another, allowing an opportunity for sharing information and tips on growing and consuming cannabis.
While there is no consumption allowed on the premises due to current laws, we want to encourage attendees to donate cannabis clones, seeds and other items that are allowed to be freely shared with other adults under Oregon’s law. Our Legal Counsel, John Lucy, has offered the following information about what is required for donations to ensure we are able to make such sharing a regular thing:
Adults who are 21+ may share marijuana outside of public view under Oregon law.
You may bring 1-4 marijuana starts (please label with strain) in brown paper bags that have been stapled or sealed at the top or any amount of marijuana seeds to share.
You may also bring up to 1 ounce of Marijuana to share, so long as it is enclosed in opaque individual containers.
All plants, seeds, marijuana should remain in their sealed containers even when shared.
No Public Use or Consumption is allowed under Oregon Law.
This protects you and the public venues that so graciously hosts us.
Thanks,
John C. Lucy IV, Law420.com
It is my personal hope that we are able to help our fellow cannabis consumers get started growing their own cannabis gardens. Sharing clones and seeds, along with having the opportunity to discuss growing tips and ideas with one another in a social setting, is one of the best ways to help those who haven’t previously grown marijuana. There are many experienced growers out there, but there are many more consumers who have never had the opportunity to grow their own. So if you have some clones or some seeds to help them get started, please come with your donations prepared as John Lucy has instructed and let’s get them growing!
This coming third Monday, October 19th, we will be offering a free screening of “Culture High” - the sequel to the documentary “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High“.
The website for this new documentary offers the following synopsis about Culture High:
Journeying across the North American landscape, “The Culture High” is the riveting story that tears into the very fibre of modern day marijuana prohibition to reveal the truth behind the arguments and motives governing both those who support and those who oppose the existing pot laws. With budgets to fight the war reaching billions and arrests for simple possession skyrocketing to nearly a million annually, the debate over marijuana’s legality has reached epic proportions. Utilizing the quirky yet profound nature of its predecessor, “”The Union: The Business Behind Getting High””, “The Culture High” raises the stakes with some of today’s biggest names, unprecedented access to footage previously unobtainable, and incredibly moving testimonials from both sides of the spectrum. Top celebrities, former undercover agents, university professors and a slew of unforgettable characters from all points of view come together for an amusing yet insightful portrait of cannabis prohibition and the grasp it has on society as a whole. “The Culture High” will strip search the oddity of human nature and dare to ask the question: What exactly is going on here?
The doors will open at 7pm and the screening will begin at 8pm. The social is free and open to the public 21+. We hope to see you there!
The Analog Theater is located at 720 SE Hawthorne St and is also where we will be hosting our monthly membership meetings on the 4th Saturday of each month at noon (October 24th is this month’s meeting and is also free and open to the public 21+). You can reach the Analog Theater by the #14 or #15 bus, or you can drive and there is on-street parking.
