Portland NORML is encouraged by Governor Kate Brown’s signing of Oregon House Bill 4094, which removes state-imposed criminal liability from banks who provide banking services to legal cannabis businesses. We must now implore our Congressional Representatives to show their support for House Bill 4094, which omits any federal banking restrictions, by taking up this issue at the federal level. Oregon Congressman Blumenauer has sponsored similar bills in the past, but currently needs more nationwide support. We are proud to say that Oregon is now the first state in the nation with this kind of legislation, and it’s our hope that the federal government will ease the needless restrictions on banking for cannabis businesses.
